CBD’s all the rage these days. So much so that we’ve launched our very own CBD oil with added body-loving plant extracts to give you a nice dose of calm before bed.
But have you ever wondered what the heck CBD oil actually is? We asked the clever folks over at Sana Lifestyle, our CBD oil partner, for their take on everything we need to know about CBD oil.
what does CBD stand for?
CBD stands for cannabidiol which is one of 113 natural compounds found in the hemp plant. Hemp is a cousin of the marijuana plant but is considered legally safe as it doesn’t contain any THC, the compound which causes a ‘high’.
what are the benefits of CBD oil?
CBD oil is thought to have a relaxing effect on your body’s cannabinoid receptors. In plain English, that means it has an effect on your body’s inner workings like your nervous system. So not only can CBD oil help with feelings of stress, it can also help with muscle recovery and rest at night, too.
So for you sleepy Brits out there, CBD can make an excellent addition to a wind-down routine that’ll help you get the top notch sleep you need to rise and shine. Check out the other benefits of CBD oil according to one of Sana’s boffins.
how do I take CBD oil?
CBD oil comes in lots of different forms like lotions and tablets. Our CBD comes as an oil that has a high strength dose and can be taken under the tongue so that it absorbs easily. And each bottle of our CBD oil comes with a pipette and instructions to help you easily take the right amount of CBD.
Sana recommends taking the oil an hour before bed so it can work its magic before you nod off to sleep. And another hot tip: holding the oil under your tongue for 30 seconds before swallowing can help it to absorb better.
how much CBD oil do we need to take to feel the benefit?
It’s different for everyone, but we recommend one pipette under the tongue per night. And if you’re new to CBD, Sana recommends starting on a smaller dose (our CBD oil comes in a smaller 2,000 mg dose or a stronger 3,000 mg dose) and working your way up to a stronger dose.
is CBD oil a food supplement?
While our CBD oil has the addition of plant extracts which give your body a nice boost of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, it’s not meant to replace food. So we recommend sticking to your yummy brekkies (eggs, anyone?), lunches and dinners while you take CBD oil.
can you drive after taking CBD oil?
Absolutely. There’s no THC in CBD oil (which is the compound found in marijuana) so you’ll be A-OK to drive.
can CBD oil help you sleep?
Good question. While we can’t guarantee CBD oil will help you sleep, we can say that it would make a stellar part of a wind-down routine before bed. Because by relaxing your mind and body before bed (like with ASMR, reading, meditation - and of course CBD oil), you’re giving yourself the best possible chance at a top night’s kip. Which can only lead to brighter mornings and happier days.
