what is a hybrid mattress?

A hybrid mattress is a glorious mix of spring and foam, making it ideal for those who like a bit of this and a bit of that. All of the eve hybrid mattresses come with cleverly designed layers that support your body in all the right places (ooo err) while you kip, so you wake up feeling brighter than ever. Head to our mattress comparison page to learn more.

how long does a hybrid mattress last?

We’re no science boffins, but luckily we know some. And their tests found that both our foam and hybrid mattresses keep their comfiness for up to 10 years, hence our 10 year warranty (though we’d recommend you change yours around the 7 to 8 year mark for hygiene reasons).

The key to making a mattress last is giving it some ELC now and then (that’s eve loving care for any of you newbies). See our mattress cleaning guide that’s chockablock with tips and tricks to make yours last the whole hog.

And finally, if you’re wondering whether you can flip a hybrid mattress to make it last longer, hold your horses. All of our mattresses need rotating by 180 degrees every 30 days during the first 6 months to ensure you wear the mattress nice and evenly, then every 3 months after that. Simply pick up the mattress using the stitched-in handles (with someone to help you) and give it a spin. You should only be sleeping on the top side of your eve, so save the flipping for your brekkie pancakes and you’ll be all good.

which bed frame is best for a hybrid mattress?

Did you know that a poor bed frame can affect your mattress? Yup, the noble mattress needs a bit more TLC than first meets the eye, so making sure you have a bed frame that supports it is key. You don’t need a box spring with a hybrid mattress, but a good, solid bed frame that doesn’t sag and that allows the mattress to breathe (ideally with slats that aren’t spaced more than 7.5 cm apart) will do you right.

The type of bed frame can affect the feel of the hybrid mattress, too. Wooden slats will support the medium firm feel of the mattress, whereas a box spring tends to create a softer feel and is generally less supportive. And if you’re wondering whether hybrid mattresses are safe on the floor, the answer’s yes - but we’d suggest propping your mattress on its side every once in a while to let it breathe.

what’s the difference between a hybrid and memory foam mattress?

This is a simple one. The only difference is that the hybrids are made up of spring and foam, and the foam is made of - you guessed it - foam. But every single eve mattress is matched in medium firm support, pressure relief for your bony bits and clever zones for spine alignment. You’ll simply find that the premium mattresses have even more luscious layers of support than the original and the lighter mattresses. If that’s your thing.

are hybrid mattresses good for back pain?

If you’re looking for the best mattresses for back pain, you’ve come to the right spot. Both types of eve mattresses (that’s the memory foams and the hybrids, if you’ve done your homework) offer top notch support for all kinds of sleep worries. So whether it’s lower back pain, shoulder pain or neck ache that are your nemeses, or if you’re simply looking for the best mattress for side sleepers, back sleepers or a-bit-of-everything-sleepers, our hybrid mattresses have you covered. Check out our nifty mattress comparison guide to help you decide which mattress to buy.
